pOn Wednesday October 15th at 0853 hrs. Companies 10 and 11 were dispatched to 2900 Lawn Terrace at the Rittenhouse for a reported gas line struck. Ladder 10 arrived first on location confirming a struck natural gasnbspline on the buildings exterior. With that report Chief 10 then requested Company 13 be dispatched to secure a water supply. Engine 11-1s crew assisted Company 10 with evacuating more than 100 residents and building staff. Chief 10 also requested numerous EMS units from around the County and City of Reading to aid in providing shelter to the elderly residents due to cold weather conditions. Two busses from BARTA also assited in the effort. After UGI secured the leak firefighters monitored the building until it was deemed safe to re-enter then assisted residents and staff back into the building. Company 11 cleared the incident at 1118 hrs.p
