Feb 15th 2014, At 0709 hours, Companies 10, 11, 13, 85 RIT & 560 were dispatched to the 200 B block of Bellevue Ave for a reported fire in the basement. Chief 13 on scene w/ smoke showing. Ladder 10 took the front of the structure and a crew from Engine 13 went interior. Engine 11-1 found a hydrant and had to spend several minutes digging it out. Chief 10 had command and requested crews from Co’s 79 & 55 to respond to the scene. Crews found heavy smoke conditions in the basement. It was found that the furnace malfunctioned and started a fire that had put itself out with all the plumbing that was there. Crews ventilated, cooled hot spots and checked for any hidden fire. Crews eventually were released by command at 1038 hours.
