At 1500 hours, Companies 11 & 10 were dispatched to the 4600 block of Commerce Street for a reported vehicle fire to be tractor trailers were numerous explosions. Asst 11 left his house to find a very heavy plume of smoke and immediately requested both Tankers from Central of Laureldale. Asst 11 arrived, took command of the scene. There were three tractor trailers involved with extremely heavy fire conditions with an abandoned mushroom house right behind the trucks. Engine 11 arrived and deployed both bumper lines and went in service. One of the lines protected the exposure building while the other focused on the fire until we were able to establish a good water supply. Once a supply line was established, the Blitz Fire fed by a 3 inch line was also placed in service. Crews worked the fire for about 30-45 minutes until it was under control with extensive overhaul. Luckily there was no extension into the mushroom and and the damage was contained to the three trucks and trailers. Only one trailer was loaded with ice tea products. Companies were clear of the scene by 1717 hours. The Muhlenberg Twp Fire Marshall’s Office were on scene to investigate.
